Our class has been looking at a lot of different self portraits of other people. A lot that I've seen are really great self portraits. What I'm going to do for my self portrait is, I'm going to have the photo be black and white, and have the photo taken from the chest up. I'm going to have a blank expression on my face and look straight at the camera. The background is going to be all black. I chose to take my self portrait this way because I want to show how I felt when my uncle passed away.
I cropped this photo so that you can see most of my body, and some of the background. I also desaturated the original picture, and changed the contrast to make the picture a little pale. Also, you can see that I am smiling, but covering it. This gives the picture a mysterious effect, because you don’t know what I’m smiling at. The lightness of my jacket, the background, and my hat, brings out the darkness in my jeans, shirt and hair. The branches and bushes in the background frame my body to help focus on me. |
