Photo by: Louie L.S., Aidan T., Tyler T., John J., Alex C., Ben B., and Everald J. 7th Grade students have been working in Photoshop the last few weeks, creating a cartoon style portrait of themselves. Students used their favorite photo from the previous project. In Photoshop, they created a layer for tracing the contours, or outlines of themselves, paying close attention to facial features, shapes, and details. Students then created a painting layer where they used the color picker to match each dark and light value and digitally paint themselves. Students learned how the lasso tools let you select specific areas to work on and the mixer brush lets you blend edges to smooth out the color. Next students will consider their pose and expression and decide on a background that shows where they are or what they are feeling in the image. Keep up the great work, 7th graders! Using the photo editing site Pixlr-o-matic, 6th grade students edited their favorite pictures that they took for their In My Evanston Poem Project. Students learned how filters, borders, and lighting effects can enhance their photos and change the mood of their images. Many students also liked being able to play with the effects to see how the same photo could be modified to create completely different versions. Nice work, 6th graders! Using a tutorial by Meredith Blaché, Advanced Media students learned how to use the layer mask to mask out parts of their body to make it appear that they are walking out of a portal. Students then experimented with filters to create the inside of the portal and change their background. Nice work! |
