According to climatologist Mark Seeley, the cold air holds less water vapor than the warmer air, while the boiling water is giving off lots of water vapor (the steam you see rising from the pot). When the hot water is thrown into the cold air, the air gets more water vapor than it can hold. The water vapor clings to tiny particles in the air, crystallizing into snow. Here a Canadian man demonstrates the same concept by shooting boiling water from a super soaker. It was -41° when he did this! |

He visited Haiti after the earthquake in 2010 and wrote a book to raise money to support the Haitian people, called HOPE FOR HAITI!
