When I saw this photo called Rakim Allah I was pulled in by the many shades of blue he used in the painting. I saw how many different blues he used from like to dark the show shading. I also saw how he blended some of the color and added a bit of green into his painting. I also saw how he left the background in red however, on the right side of the painting I saw how he darkened the red in the background. I also noticed his brush stokes he used for the background as well. In the painting I also noticed how he incorporated the darks and lights to show that the light source was coming to the left rather than the right. I noticed the because of the light whitish blue he used on the left side of his nose. I also noticed the red dot in his eye which to me made me think that the male in the painting was looking at something red. I absolutely loved this photo called DJ Earth because of the way he made it pop out with light colors. I loved how he used his darks and lights to show shading and how he used the stars the he painted on to the DJ's shirt and hat to make it somewhat sparkle. I loved how he used the purple's and pinks to shade under the DJ's arms and hands how he made his lines to make it seem like the Aurora Borealis found in Antarctica which made it absolutely pop out and make it stand out in the dark starry sky. I also loved how he used the blues, purples, and pinks for the station he's using. In the DJ's face I also noticed how there's a little greenish white under his glasses to contrast the darks and lights.
In the beginning of the process of our little project we viewed the illustrations from the book Chess Rumble by G., illustrated by Jesse Joshua Watson. Without looking at the writing we looked at the illustrations and described what we saw, and inferred what the photo might have been about. Afterwards, we all each got separate illustrations to describe, inference, and ask questions about in separate groups. Once we all wrote what we saw, inferred, and wrote questions we all took videos of us talking about what we have written. The next day we all watched and heard everyones recording as we discussed and read the story itself and finally realized what the story really was about. Once we got over this we read the first page where we got inspired by the why he was saying "In my hood". From there we all made poems sort of similar to this. One poem was suppose to be a sad poem while the second poem was basically the opposite of the first poem and happy. We revised some of our poems and finally took photos to go with the two poems. It took a few days to get through this process because we had to get perfect photos, edit them, crop them, and etc. Once we got through this we photoshopped our photos and added our poems to it. At first we left it to a photo shop file until Mrs. Kushner checked and revised our photos to finally make our photos to jpg files. Furthermore, once we finished we blogged about what we did in our photos and why and posted the photos and description into our blogs.
