Today we starting tracing our portraits. It was tricky at first because you need to be really precise and there are tons of lines to trace. After a while it got easier and now I'm getting the hang of it but I still have a long way to go.
On Tuesday we're going to begin taking self portraits. This week we have been looking at pictures on the internet to find ideas. After looking for a while, I realized that a lot of them reflected peoples interests. I saw some where people were holding cameras or cooking supplies and that made me think about mine. I'm planning on being sitting down against a wall with a book over my face to show that I like to read. I want to have it taken from far away because it will make me seem more alone. I don't really know if I want it taken from the front or the side. Since we were told to think about what to wear, I'm going to wear my normal dark blue jeans, high tops or boots (depending on the weather), a t-shirt that's either mostly plain or possibly my favorite Divergent shirt (I told you I like to read) and maybe a sweatshirt.
In this photo you see me leaning against a wall, looking off into the distance. I really like this picture although it was hard to choose this one from the many great photos we took. I edited the original photo by increasing the exposure to brighten the light areas in the image. Making my picture brighter made my expression look more natural, instead of dark and full of shadow. Originally the picture showed my entire body but I cropped it to just show my torso because I wanted the viewer to focus on my face. I played with the contrast until I found what I thought was a good balance of darks and lights. My sweater is darker than the bricks which makes it stand out from the background. You can also see a ray of light from the sun on the bottom left corner of the picture.
1) I really liked how only part of my face is shown and how it's darker than most of my pictures.
2) I liked how my entire face is shown and not much else is visible. I used more contrast to bring out my dark hair. 3) I chose to focus on my smile in this one. |
