We've been quite busy in Media Arts this month! Our biggest news is that we have officially moved into our new Media Arts classroom space, the former computer lab, room 109. In addition, students have been working hard on many exciting projects. Here are some highlights from this month:
First period students introduced a new component to our portrait unit called "talking time". In the spirit of group discussion and reflection, students spent ten minutes at the end of class in small groups. They looked at each other's portraits and wrote about parts that were successful and suggestions they had for improvement. |
Third period students took turns interviewing each other about their progress using Flash. Students created Haunted House Animations for Halloween. They found that creating an animation that tells a story and has many layers can be challenging. Through interviewing, students were able to talk about their accomplishments and discuss strategies they could use to complete their animations. |
6th grade students who finished their In My Evanston Movies began working on stop motion animation projects. Some students used the iPad app Stop Motion Studio, while most students used Photobooth to take their pictures. Students experimented with the green screen to add different backgrounds behind them to help create a setting for their animations. |
